- (a) a university receiving financial support under Article 30 of the Education and Libraries (Northern Ireland) Order 1993,
- (2) In sub-paragraph (1) “governing body” has the meaning given by Article 30(3) of the Education and Libraries (Northern Ireland) Order 1993.
Article 30 provides for the Department of Education to make grants to, among others, universities, and provides that "university" includes university colleges and colleges (and similar) of universities. By SR 1999/481, this function was transferred from the Department of Education to the Department for Employment and Learning.
